When homeowners go to a landscape design only firm to help them put their vision into a formal sketch, they are often left with no plan for installation. Or they initially thought they would do it themselves, but after seeing the plan, they feel some expertise (and landscape machinery) would be helpful. We have installed landscape design plans from other firms many times. For some we work straight from the plan, and for others we suggest tweaks that the homeowners love. Regardless of which way we go, the installation is always tailored to the needs of the client.
One of our design partners, Greensketch Concepts, caters to do-it-yourself homeowners. However, sometimes their clients’ vision requires more than they want to take on. We have come in and prepared landscaping beds, installed larger plants, built hardscapes, etc. – whatever the clients need to get the project ready for their part of the installation.
For example, one client’s plan called for planting along a short retaining wall around both sides of the home on a sloping property. To ensure the integrity of the new landscaping, they had us build terracing with Bedford stone down the slope and fill in the resulting beds with soil. The homeowners then did all the planting themselves.
Another Greensketch project had us removing all of the existing overgrown plants and some stone in the front yard, cleaned up all the other beds, placed the new plantings called for in the plan and mulched.
We have also completed a whole Greensketch design for our clients. The plan called for creating a lovely outdoor living space that also addressed drainage issues. We installed a new deck, water feature, pondless stream and small patio. You can read more about this cool project here.
We have worked with other design firms as well, and we always enjoy seeing how our partners approach a landscape. They expand our creativity – and they appreciate our contributions to not only the design, but to the completion of the project.
Large or small, full installation or just prep, we are willing and able to help you fulfill your vision for your landscape even if we don’t design it. Send us an email or give us a call at (317) 997-4803.
