Another week gone by in the blink of an eye. Â Time is truly flying in the world of Eagleson Landscape Co! Â Last week we talked about a plant that handled drought well and did not mind being left in a drier spot in the landscape. Â Well what if your yard is constantly wet?! Â Maybe you got the “lucky” property where the back corner gets all of your neighbors drainage! Â Sit down, get comfortable and do not panic because mother nature has thought about everything! Â This week we are going to talk about a plant that grows well in wet areas especially near brooks and creeks. Â A prolific self seeder native to North America, this weeks plant of the week is the Forget Me Not!
Now I want to say this up front. Â Forget Me Not’s are wonderful flowering perennials, but should only be planted in areas to wet for other plants to grow in my opinion. Â This plant is a PROLIFIC self seeder and will be a maintenance nightmare if allowed to get out of hand. Â That being said lets concentrate on talking about the PROS of this wonderful perennial more than the con.
Forget Me Not care is incredibly simple. Â Being a native plant makes the Forget Me Not very adaptable and forgiving in harsh conditions. Â Simply plant it in a spot that is damp and shady to get the best results, but this plant can also handle full sun and drier conditions if watered regularly. Â In addition to being easy to grow, Forget Me Not plants have wonderful little blue flowers that bloom from May through October. Â These are wonderful plants and if you want to read more about them here is a website for you to check out!
