Hello readers, gardeners and friends!  I have a new and exciting installment for my blog this week.  We will be discussing ornamental onions!  Now before you roll your eyes and scoff at me for being excited about onions, read for yourself how this wonderful plant can boost your landscape!
From Central Asia to your garden this weeks Plant of the Week is easy to grow and comes in a wide variety of colors, shapes and sizes. Â Alliums are not picky plants at all, making it a great plant for gardeners of all talent levels! Â They will grow in most soil conditions, are drought tolerant, have little to no insect or deer problems, and are hardy in the colder temperatures of Indiana. Â The only thing they ask for is lots of sunlight, provide them with sun and you can expect the plant to naturalize and spread. Â Allium are great as cut flowers for bouquets as well!
A great plant that honey bees love! Â This fact alone is a great reason to plant, enjoy and love ornamental allium in your garden! Â If you want to read more about Allium here is a website I read through and learned a great deal from!
Thanks for reading and see you next week!
