I am doing everything I can to avoid talking about the weather. However, it is Monday, December 14 and I am watching a torrential rainstorm go through while wearing a t-shirt and shorts. What a truly unbelievable state in which we reside! I have an aromatic evergreen to talk about, which would really love this mild weather we are having. This weeks Plant of the Week is Teucrium chamaedrys, otherwise known as Wall Germander.

Germander is a lovely evergreen that grows to about one foot in height and two feet in width. Its’ aromatic foliage is a great year round perk in addition to its beautiful pink Spring blooms! Germander’s shrubby appearance and clumping form make it a great plant to create a low hedge or to edge a bed. This plant does not like extreme cold and can die back during an intense cold spell. You can avoid this by planting your Germander in a protected location! Make sure to provide full sun as well to ensure it survives for many years in your garden!  Once established this is a hardy fellow who does not mind dry summers!
