Eagleson Landscape is a family business through and through. We build lasting relationships with our clients, tailoring our services to meet their unique needs and tastes to create beautiful landscapes they can really enjoy. Each member of our family plays some part in the philosophy behind our company. To know us is to know Eagleson Landscape, so let us introduce ourselves.
Our company’s story begins with Bill and Elizabeth, two passionate plant people who met at a local nursery and decided they were meant to be. They are both lovers of all things flora, and find their inspiration in natural landscapes. Bill graduated from Purdue in landscape management and Elizabeth graduated from Michigan State in horticulture. Bill had originally majored in chemical engineering, until he decided working in a lab wasn’t for him. They settled in Carmel and added son Sam and daughter Kay to their family. Bill worked for Allisonville Nursery as a design and installation manager for many years. After much encouragement from his clients and support from his family, Bill started Eagleson Landscape Company in 2004.
Our tag line, Enhancing Nature’s Gifts, truly reflects the inspiration behind all of Bill’s landscape designs. He draws from his love and respect for the natural world to create yards that build upon the natural settings. His admiration of how lakes, rivers, and creeks naturally change the landscape has led him to specialize in creating beautiful water features. He sees the ways water shapes and moves rocks to create unique, often surprising formations. Bill’s peculiar calling card echoes this fascination—in his water features he leaves one rock in an intriguing place to incite curiosity about how the rock got there, imitating Mother Nature’s randomness.
Elizabeth now works as a histotechnologist, but still has a hand in our business by working with and keeping Koi. She became enamored with fish when Bill began building more water features with ponds. We’d like to expand our fish offerings as her expertise grows.
Now on to what Sam does. Sam is Eagleson Landscape’s managing apprentice. He recently graduated from Purdue in 2013 with a degree in landscape management. He is learning the business and discovering how he would like to bring his personality into the mix. For now, he is finding that he enjoys communicating with customers and has also become our social media guy.
Linguistic Kay mostly tolerates her plant-loving family. Kay is a sophomore at Indiana University in Asian Studies. Her love is languages, and she has studied Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Romanian and French. Although she is not planning to work for Eagleson Landscape when she graduates, she is still very much a part of our team.
We are fortunate to be a family with shared interests. We all enjoy the outdoors, and most family vacations are spent hiking. We tend to frequent the mountains of Elizabeth’s native state of New York, the dunes of Lake Michigan, and Brown county parks, and take tons of pictures of the natural landscapes. We are always on the hunt for unique plants—the more unusual the better—as they offer the greatest challenge for us to figure out how to use them in our landscape designs. We stop at every nursery and nature preserve we find along the way, regardless of what part of the world we are in!
So, as you can see, the passion for beautiful landscapes behind every Eagleson project is truly a family affair. Our goal is to bring out the best in your natural landscape, making it easy for you and your family to enjoy it.
